How A Backing Up Trailer Clinic For Women Started
Why RCKN Reverse?Â
I wondered about myself after a family camp outing to the Clark Fork River.
"How can this outdoor girl not know how to back up a trailer?"
A girl who grew up on the farm, does not have the skills?
The concept strikes terror in the heart of many women who think about it.Â
Â
Where is my confidence? Â Â Â Â Â
… Grew up with three brothers. They were excited to learn, so I didn’t need to.Â
… Learning from adults with little patience was breaking my young girl's heart.
Â
So here I am in my late 40’s still being fearful of the process.Â
… Circling the campground several times to get lined-up straight enough to even attempt backing in.
… Jump out of my truck so my brother can back-in the raft, because there are too many spectators and a line of boats waiting to use the dock.
… Towing a trailer on I-90 that was hitched for me. Feeling less-than-confident in my responsibilities, without understanding the hitching process or best towing practices.
… Have little idea of what to do in an emergency situation. I like to be prepared. Scouting motto.
Â
In 2014 the IDEA started ... to create a class taught by women, for women, on how to safely tow and back up a trailer with confidence.
… Women learn differently than men.
… There is safety in numbers. We go to the bathroom in pairs.
… Support from girlfriends is a blessing.Â
… The cheerleader in us enjoys helping others succeed.
… We operate best in non-judgmental environments.Â
… Competition isn’t important to women while in learning mode.

My hope is with the knowledge in this manual and continued practice,
… You are RCKN the REVERSE gear in no time.Â
